Over the last several years we have seen a lot of growth and progress made in Western New York, and we have witnessed a steady transformation of our city - from Downtown, The Waterfront, Amherst Street and Hertel Avenue. Elmwood Village and Allentown also have made real strides in the level of quality of life for residents and visitors alike. There are, however, few projects that resonate with the grandeur and beauty of the newly reopened and re-envisioned Hotel Lafayette.

The restoration of this beautiful and luxurious property is more than a renovation of a building - it is the symbol of a city’s return.

When Seabar opened as a 26-seat sushi bar on Ellicott Street five years ago, we hardly imagined where the future would lead us. We had, at most, expected a moderately busy and comfortable restaurant, with a really nice place to live upstairs in the lofts. Each year, however, the area became more populated, lively, and exciting. Seabar grew to capitalize on the city's steady revival. Still, we watched with envy the rest of the country’s progress, seemingly always ahead of our town in the latest/greatest of just about everything. But in reality, the opposite was taking place. Buffalo was growing up too, as people began to rediscover what is here, telling others, sharing our bounty, and heritage with pride and excitement.

It is in this Spirit of Excitement that we are honored to open our new Fine Dining Restaurant - MIKE A at the Lafayette Hotel. We invite all of our friends, customers, and supporters to come downtown, and enjoy a level of cuisine, service, and luxury that once again brings out the best we have to offer.
